October 4, 2008, the Upper Rockyford Lake Association participated in Keep the Midlands Beautiful 1st Adopt a Waterway event. Friends and neighbors gathered on the
Overcreek dam, sporting bright
orange safety vests and toting heavy duty
garbage bags to clean up our beautiful lake. Several paddlers made their way around the shoreline and collected all kinds of junk, including 8 deflated balls, lots of
Styrofoam, and countless fast food containers. Thanks to the folks that pitched in to help keep our lake clean and safe. A similar event will be conducted in March 2009, and we hope to see even more folks then!
